Things To Do Before You Sign Up
Once you have made the decision to work from home, you should spend some time in planning and preparation. Having decided that an internet home business is the right thing for you to take up, the decision needs to be made as to what type of home business would interest you and what type of business would be practical for you in your particular circumstances. Like any other form of profit making enterprise, a home business requires dedication if it is going to succeed and generate a reasonable income. A homeworker is no different from an office worker or any other worker for that matter. At the end of the day, we want to see a profit and we have to earn it. The difference when you have your own home business is that the profits all go into your pocket.

I am an affiliate in every one of the programmes I recommend. Some of the programmes (such as SFI ) are offered by well established companies and it is possible to earn a very large income promoting these companies. You have the opportunity to join SFI and MDI as a free affiliate and upgrade to pro standard after you have tested out the the company's products and become familiar with the remuneration scales. The training and support offered to affiliates of SFI I are second to none.
I have also included some more modest programmes such as Multiplying emails and a couple of list building programmes. These are newer, easy programmes and a fun way to get a home business started. Although I refer to these programmes as "modest" I am referring to them in comparison to the corporate vastness of SFI. It is still possible to make a good profit working at Multiplying emails or promoting traffic exchanges and optin lists with little or no initial capital investment.
In any event, you will need to build a list and advertise your website.

I started inernet marketing with my main site: www.huntingvenus.com which came with a free website professionally set up and offering a variety of opportunities for prospective internet marketers. I subsequently joined up with Multiplying emails and PTR (paid to read email) companies as a way to earn some instant income to purchase upgrades and advertising for my main business. I have already upgraded to pro status with SFI and Traffic Swarm.
Although I have every faith that my Pluginprofitsite will generate a substantial income, I know this will take time and I wish my internet marketing to be self funding.
It takes time to build up any business and there is no logical reason why an internet based business should be any different. Research shows that a realistic time to allow for a business to go into profit is anything up to a year.
Most of us would like to make an instant profit and be able to retire in the near future but this is not realistic. We are in the real world here and we have to make ourselves an income to survive. Bearing in mind that huge profits will most probably take some months to build up, you need to decide how much time you can devote to building up your business.
Obviously the more time you can spend, the faster you can build up your business. Alternatively, if you have available income to invest, you can automate more and spend less time. This, of course, will enable you to work elsewhere until you home business is running in profit. Eventually you will have surplus profits to invest in advertising etc and this is where further automation and less time is involved. This is the good bit!
I hope I have given you some ideas on getting started with an internet business and that the following tips will be useful. When deciding what to do, remember that you should choose something you will enjoy doing. That sound obvious but people can be swayed by the thought of instant, easy profits and find themselves working hard at something they do not really like and disappointed with the results.
Think! You could stay working for somebody else and be miserable, you don't need to do it to yourself.
To Begin
1. Download a good browser and protection. You will be spending a lot of time on the internet. Microsoft Internet Explorer is extremely vulnerable to viruses, trojans, spyware and adware. Crazy Browser, Mozilla and Opera are all to be recommended and can be downloaded free. I have all three of these browsers because they all do things slightly differently. Crazy browser is excellent for paid to read emails or surfing numerous traffic exchanges. You can put 8 or 10 traffic exchange surf pages in a "Group" (see the Crazy Browser toolbar) so that you can open them all with one click (brilliant, saves hundreds of keystrokes). I take it for granted that you will already have in place a firewall and good anti-virus software such as Panda but I would suggest adding anti spyware and anti adware protection such as Spyware Blaster and No Adware plus Spybot Search and Destroy. These can be downloaded free. You are asked to make a donation to the site but it is not compulsory; you can go back later and donate if you are happy with the software. There is plenty of free software of this sort so, if you do not already know what you want, you can find plenty with a Google search.
2. Get a new email account which should be kept entirely separate from your personal email account. If you intend to read emails for money, you should open another dedicated email account just for the paid to read emails. If you sign up with several PTR companies (as you will need to in order to generate decent profit), you can expect to receive hundreds of emails each day. You can get free email accounts from Yahoo, Excite and numerous other places. AOL is to be avoided because of the way its email filters work (you could find that PTR emails just do not reach you). If you intend to sign up for more than one type of business, it would be advisable to open a separate email account for each one. You can go directly to Yahoo by clicking on the following link.
4. Sign up for free accounts with Pay Pal, Storm Pay and IntGold as most companies will pay you through one of these. It is worth getting accounts with all of them before you start signing up for programmes: it is very annoying to be halfway through signing up and finding that payments will only be made through an account you do not have. If you are undertaking several ventures, you might want more than one account with each of the companies. The reasons for this are to keep the money separate and also that some companies want you to sign up under the same email address as your PayPal account (not many but it happens). Paid To Read E-mail, Surveys, Affiliate Programmes
My aim is to help other people find the way to these websites without having to go through months of searching and the associated trial and error. I stress that all the programmes listed here are completely free to join and there are no hidden fees to take you by surprise just when you think it is safe to join up. I have personally joined and tested all of these programmes.
Paid to read emails
These are an excellent way to start earning a modest income on the internet. By just reading, you will not get rich but it is nice to see the small payments mounting up and it is pretty much risk free. To make a serious income form PTR you need to join a programme such as Multiplying emails . I enjoy visiting the advertisers' websites anyway, so that is a bonus. Virtually all of these companies have on site mailboxes where you can go to read your emails. You should make sure you log in on site at least every 14 days (I try to make it weekly) otherwise your account will be deleted. If you want a break, you can go to the website and put your account on vacation mode to avoid deletion.
Traffic exchange surfing
Surfing on traffic exchanges is a painless way to earn advertising for you own website. You can also opt to surf for cash. This is an easy and (I think) enjoyable way to earn a small amount of cash or vsitors to your website. Online paid surveys
I will say at the outset that I have been disappointed in the paid online surveys. I, therefore, do not suggest these as a serious source of income. If you like filling in surveys, fine, you can accept the payments or winnings as a bonus but otherwise I would avoid them as being too time consuming for the rewards.
Some companies get you to fill in several pages of questions before telling you that you are not suitable for that particular survey. There are others which take so much time and ask such convoluted questions that it is just not worth the effort. I was doing my best to give honest answers in one survey so when I was asked what I liked about a particular thing my answer was "nothing at all". The next question was "what in particular do you like about nothing at all?". My brain was practically melting by the time I got to the end of this survey and earned a few pennies.
I still do some surveys - because I enjoy it - but I stick to just a few companies which have a good layout to their survey pages and ask sensible questions.
Affiliate programmes

Any programmes which I have tested and found unsuitable, have been dropped. I will only recommend programmes which I like. You can test them and make your own decision.
